Conglomerated National Television, more commonly known by its abbreviation CNT, is a television network appearing in the HD Universe of the Grand Theft Auto series.
Description
The company began broadcasting in 1974. The network can be viewed on operable televisions in Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto V, and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Grand Theft Auto IV
CNT has a studio on Burlesque in The Triangle, Algonquin, Liberty City.
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
CNT's presumed headquarters are located at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Elgin Avenue in the Vinewood Hills neighborhood of Los Santos. A CNT billboard, designed to resemble a vintage television set with a breakable glass see-through screen, can be seen along Elgin Avenue across from the building. A replica of this billboard also appears along the La Puerta Freeway near Los Santos International Airport.
The player can buy and sell stocks from CNT on the BAWSAQ website in GTA V. In GTA Online, the network appears as a primary sponsor on two liveries for the Rhinehart and Sentinel XS.
Grand Theft Auto VI
A replica of the CNT vintage television-themed billboard from GTA V and GTA Online appeared along Interstate 97 in the Stockyard neighborhood of Vice City in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks. A wooden ramp in front of it suggests it may serve as a potential stunt jump location.[1]
The network can also potentially be seen listed on an electronic program guide displayed on a wall-mounted television in the Jack of Hearts strip club, alongside other networks like Weazel News and MeTV.[2]
Influence
The network's abbreviation appears to be a combination of the U.S. TV networks CNN and TNT, while its logo resembles that of AMC. The network's abbreviation is also a play on the offensive expletive "c**t", with the now-former BAWSAQ stock ticker for CNT in Grand Theft Auto IV, "CNTU", reinforcing this connection.
The network itself and its programming may be inspired by scripted content networks such as TNT, The CW, TBS, and HBO. Since these networks, along with CNN, are part of the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) media conglomerate, CNT could be interpreted as a broad representation of the conglomerate.
