In GTA IV and GTA V (pictured here is IV), the player can activate cheats by entering special numbers on their phone.
Cheats are implementations within game design that give the player options to alter their experience, either through modifications or codes added intentionally.
Across most of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, cheats can be accessed and used to change the player's experience.
Gameplay
The player should be advised that, due to the nature of cheats, they are used at the their own risk. It is advisable to keep a back-up save game as some of the cheats are irrevocable; most of the cheats will be deactivated if the player types in the cheat once more, but certain cheats are not deactivated, no matter how many times the player types them in.
In some consoles, when one cheat has been activated at least once in a save, achievements are disabled; Story progression however won't. Also, in certain GTA games, using cheats degrade the player's criminal rating.
Except for GTA Chinatown Wars, none of the iOS games have cheat systems.

Trivia
- If a player types commit suicide cheat while in a vehicle on certain games, it will disappear along with the player when the Wasted text appears. This is the only way a vehicle is destroyed without being turned into black/wreck.
