Hinterland is a clothing brand in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Description
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
In GTA San Andreas, Hinterland Articulated Trailers are seen throughout San Andreas, and no clothes can be purchased by the player. The company also sponsors one of the Hotring Racers.
Grand Theft Auto IV
In GTA IV, the player can purchase Hinterland clothing from the Russian Shop in Hove Beach, Broker. Items of clothing include jumpers, jackets and boots. The default light brown boots that Niko wears in the beginning of the storyline are labeled as Hinterland. The scrubs pants Niko gets during Flatline are also manufactured by Hinterland.
Hinterland has four branches in Algonquin and one in Bohan.
Algonquin
- Silicon Street, Lancaster
- Galveston Avenue, Middle Park West
- Feldspar Street, Suffolk
- Galveston Avenue, Westminster
Bohan
Hinterland posters can be found on bus shelters and billboards around Liberty City. In Grand Theft Auto IV and The Lost and Damned, there is a Hinterland poster in replacement of the Hercules nightclub in The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Grand Theft Auto V
In GTA V, Franklin Clinton can buy Hinterland boots at any Sub Urban store around San Andreas.
Grand Theft Auto Online
In GTA Online, there are a number of Hinterland shirts for sale. Specifically, a shirt says, "Made in Liberty, built to conquer." This text is evidence that their merchandise originates from Liberty State.
Grand Theft Auto VI

In Grand Theft Auto VI, the logos on the We Have Shoes clothing store billboard suggest they sell shoes from Hinterland.
Influence
Hinterland seems to be a parody of Timberland, a brand known for their boots and outdoor clothing. Hinterland is German for "outback".
