The Beagle is an airplane found in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Design
The Beagle is a twin prop airplane based on the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, albeit with a modified nose and a smaller vertical stabilizer. Unlike the BN-2 that serves as its primary basis, it features four-bladed propellers and only one wheel per strut on the main landing gear. The tail also differs, and appears more similar to that of the Cessna 208 Caravan.
The Beagle can accommodate two people (pilot and passenger) despite having ten seats. Unlike most planes in the game, it does not have retractable landing gear.
Performance
In general, the Beagle handles sort of like a 'giant Dodo': Short take-off, slow flight, easy landing, very stable, etc. Although very slow, the Beagle can turn much faster than any other airplane in GTA San Andreas. It has an acceptable handling, considering its large size, as well as a short take-off distance.
While being chased by a Hydra, the Beagle hardly gets hit due to its slow speed, giving the player an advantage to sort these military aircraft.

Locations
- Parked by the runway in Easter Bay Airport, San Fierro. The plane is locked until Pilot School is finished.
- Can be seen flying low over the player in small desert and countryside towns, and occasionally crashes into Mount Chiliad.
- Spawns with one wing inside a house in Fort Carson, due to an oversight.
Oversight
Fort Carson Spawn Point
The erroneous spawn location for the Beagle in Fort Carson, specifically the one positioned at X: -38.70, Y: 1083.19, Z: 19.18, is caused due to a typo in the IPL coordinates.
Based on the car generators listed in the countn2_stream1.ipl file[1][2], the Beagle (which uses vehicle ID 511)[3] is listed along with the nearby spawn locations for a Bike (which uses vehicle ID 509)[4] and a Mountain Bike (which uses vehicle ID 510)[5], further confirming the "511" listed is simply a typo and intended for a third bicycle spawn point.
Instead, a Beagle is spawned in the driveway of a house, with its left wing clipping through the house model. Due to this oversight, players may hear the Beagle exploding from afar when the vehicle spawns. In most cases, the vehicle wreckage is always unloaded as soon as it explodes due to its collision conflicting with the house. If the vehicle explodes as soon as it is unloaded, it causes a random explosion to appear in random areas of Fort Carson.
This glitch was fixed in the Xbox release by Rockstar North, by simply removing this car generator from the IPL file.

Trivia
General
- It is most likely named the Beagle as a reference to Snoopy, the famous dog from the Beagle breed present in the Peanuts comic strips, who is often depicted as a "World War I Flying Ace". The nose and cockpit of the aircraft are also similarly shaped to the head of a Beagle dog. In addition to that, Beagle was also the name of a real-life British airplane manufacturer.
- While the Beagle is not present anywhere in Grand Theft Auto V, it is mentioned during the mission Pack Man, where Trevor tells Lamar he used to "borrow a Beagle" when young, to which Lamar replies "Kids with planes". It is possible that the Beagle was featured in the beta version[ref?ref? This fact is likely to be disputed and needs a source for confirmation.] of the game but was cut for unknown reasons with no leftover files.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- It is one of the two planes in the game (the other is the Dodo) from which passengers can perform drive-bys.
