Georgia is a country located in the Caucasus, which is located between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It is bordered by Russia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, and Armenia and Turkey to the south. From the west, it is bounded by the Black Sea.
Between 1922 and 1991, Georgia was part of the Soviet Union and known as Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic (Georgian SSR, GSSR or simply Soviet Georgia).
