The Pause Menu is a screen that appears in every game in the Grand Theft Auto series.
Description
The pause menu appears whenever the player presses the "Start" button on consoles, or upon pressing the ESC button on PC.
It is used when the player needs to take a break, to check the map, to check in-game statistics or to reconfigure settings.
Features
Through the Pause Menu, the player can:
- Start a new game.
- Load or delete a saved game.
- Check the chapter progression (GTA, GTA London and GTA 2).
- Check the current Respect level for each gang (GTA 2).
- Check the map (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City onwards).
- View Brief (recent dialogue used by main characters and protagonists/or game reminders/messages).
- View Stats.
- Change settings and options.
- Quit the game (PC and mobile versions).
- Save the game (only in Grand Theft Auto Advance and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars).
- Access Grand Theft Auto Online (GTA V only).
- Replay a mission or a stranger and freaks mission (GTA V).
Background Music
In certain GTA titles, ambient music will play upon pausing the game.
- Grand Theft Auto – N-CT FM tracklist will play.
- Grand Theft Auto: London – Westminster Wireless tracklist will play.
- Grand Theft Auto Advance – "Carjacking in Hilltown" by E=MC Feelgood will play.
- Grand Theft Auto IV – An echo version of Soviet Connection will play.
- The Lost and Damned – An echo version of The Lost and Damned Theme will play.
- The Ballad of Gay Tony – An echo version of I Keep on Walking will play.
- Grand Theft Auto V – Los Santos City Map by Tangerine Dream will play.
