The Declasse DR1 is an open-wheel car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Los Santos Summer Special update.
Influence
The DR1 is a single-seat race car based on the 2018–2019 Dallara DW12 Universal Aero Kit IndyCar, mainly the street/short oval course configuration. The mirrors are taken from the original 2012–2014 Dallara IR-12 chassis, while the spoiler blades seem to be borrowed from the Dallara IR-04/05. Some of the customization seems to be influenced by the superspeedway configuration, as well as previous generations of IndyCar Series open-wheelers.
Just like other open-wheelers, the engine model is reused from the PR4 and R88 and is based on the Honda RA121E V12.
Liveries
Several liveries are available to replicate the design of IndyCar teams and specific drivers, including:
- The "Tenshun Motorsport" livery, which draws inspiration from the Will Power's #12 Team Penske Dallara,
- The "Narc Racing" livery, inspired by the Robert Megennis #27 Andretti Autosport,
- The "Atomic 99" livery, which refers to Marco Andretti #98 US Concrete,
- The "Demonoil Motorsports" livery, which takes cues from the Alexander Rossi #20 Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa Dallara,
- The "Candybox Racer" livery, which is based on the Rinus VeeKay's #21 Ed Carpenter Racing Dallara
- The "Team Globe Oil" livery, inspired by the Pato O’Ward's #5 Arrow McLaren SP Dallara
- The "Declassefy" livery, which bears resemblance to the Conor Daly's #20 Ed Carpenter Racing Dallara.
Design
The DR1 features a narrow, low-profile design, where the front has a distinctive long nose with large dual wings and black/carbon fins, as well as control arms for the front wheels and black narrow ducts for the front brakes. The middle section features rounded intakes beside the nose and curved panels near the rear wheels, while the center features an open driver compartment with two rectangular mirrors beside it and a tall compartment with a loop/roll bar on top and a long fin running towards the rear.
The rear end features a single square tail light and a diffuser with four blades, as well as two upwards-facing exhausts near the rear axle and the corresponding control arms and brake ducts. The rear wing is mounted on two support frames and is made up of a large surface at the bottom, along with two riveted fins with their lower halves angled towards the vehicle. The entire underside of the vehicle is carbon plated, separated into narrow panels for the nose/cabin area and a wider panel for the main body and diffuser.
Its interior uses a unique and modernized steering wheel with a digital display above and numerous buttons around, which is shared with the BR8.
The vehicle is prominently painted with the primary color, with the rearmost horizontal surfaces of the wings painted in a secondary color. The DR1 uses its own custom "Race" wheels with racing slicks similar to vehicles such as the Drift Tampa and the Hotring Sabre, being a silver variation of the "Classic Five" rims fitted with "Atomic Logo" tires.
Performance
Vehicle
The DR1 is a surprisingly well rounded vehicle, having fair handling and excellent braking, although lower acceleration than the PR4. At high speeds, the vehicle will get a slight understeer when attempting tight turns but this is mitigated through simple use of brakes. The downside of using this vehicle, however, is that the driver will be unable to use their weapons at all, risking the player getting attacked and not being able to return fire.
Unlike other vehicles, the DR1 damage absorption will not result in deformation but instead the body kit falling off, exposing the engine and base frame. This can result in more understeer as the car loses more traction because of the missing parts, especially if the spoiler is gone.
Due to the immense downforce, the DR1 can also drive on walls, even ones that are slightly curved outwards, and even ceilings if the player angles the car correctly, especially in the Los Santos Storm Drain, where there are inclines.
The DR1 is powered by a V10 engine fitted with what appears to be double-barrel carburetors/throttle bodies. Its sound is a higher-pitched variation of the engine sound from the Turismo R.
Like the PR4, the R88 and the BR8, the DR1 is known to have different downforce values in Freemode. Depending of the front and rear wing setups, one is able to provide either lower downforce to increase speed or higher downforce to provide better cornering abilities. These will carry over in Open Wheel Races.

Features
In addition to its already impressive speed, the DR1 also has KERS, allowing the driver to increase their speed even further by activating the boost, in a similar manner to the Lectro and the Vindicator. The boost lasts for four seconds and it takes about six seconds to recharge to its full capacity, but it does not have to be full to activate it. In order for the boost to recharge, the vehicle needs to begin slowing down to let it charge. Stopping the vehicle, accelerating, or reversing will prevent the boost from recharging.

Trivia
- The "N-LS5513" registration code on the "Declassefy" livery is derived from the Valkyrie's.
- The Legendary Motorsport's preview image of the vehicle depicts the vehicle with a racing steering wheel that is identical to the ones on the PR4 and R88.
- Like the PR4, one can switch the Cinematic Camera to a cabin view that emulates an on-board camera similar to real-life Formula One cars.
