The Dashound is a coach appearing in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Influence
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
The Dashound seemingly takes primary influence from the MCI Renaissance E series bus, with front and rear bumpers and rear fascia taken from the 2001–2006 Blue Bird LTC-40. The characteristic quad-tail light setup is very reminiscent of the 1989–1990 Blue Bird Wanderlodge, albeit circular. Some additional elements may have come from the 1998–2010 Prevost H3-45.
The name (taken from the livery and company branding itself) is likely a parody of Greyhound Lines.
Design

The Dashound is depicted with a triple-axle design and reuses the beta unnamed coach bus design found in a TV advertisement, with the exception of a smaller wheelbase and shorter rear overhang, and lacks the black-out side windows found on the GTA IV model.
The front assumes a sleek design with a curved split windscreen. Non-functional fog lamps are found on the bumper. Compared to other buses, the Dashound features a conventional front-facing hinge door, on which its mirror is mounted (although the mirror becomes detached once opened, see #Bugs/Glitches). Along the sides are numerous luggage compartment doors, all of which are non-functional. The rear engine bay door can also be opened in a collision.
The rear end includes turn signals and reversing lights, tail lights on the outer sides and brake lights on the inner sides. Numerous marker lights are found around the roof and illuminate at night.
Inside the vehicle are 8 sets of 2-seater chairs along either side of the bus. The blue patterned fabric used on the seats is shared with that of the Bus, although used on a different seat design. Roof lighting runs above the aisle. The dashboard consists of a conventional truck interior, which, in the enhanced versions of the game, features functional, analog truck dials.
In the enhanced versions of the game, the Dashound has additional horn variations of varying pitch. The horn choice is randomized when the vehicle is spawned.
The coach only appears in a permanent white and blue Dashound livery. It sports standard industrial wheels present on other trucks, such as the Phantom, Mule and Bus.
Performance

Being a large vehicle, the Dashound's speed leaves much to be desired, and, with its heavy weight and rear engine, it also leaves a slow acceleration time of 0 to 60 in more than 12 seconds. Its top speed is better than the ordinary bus. The powerful inline 4-modeled engine makes a large engine sound, sounding even louder than the Bus. However, on the down side, its large height makes it prone to tipping over, even on the slightest of corners, so care must be taken when approaching corners, slowing down is advised to make a safe corner. If it does tip over, it can be nearly impossible to get back onto its wheels, the only way possible is to use props and land relief as a 'grip', wheel-spinning on a prop will result on the coach pulling itself onto its wheels. The player can also stand on top of a moving Dashound without the risk of falling off.[1]

- Commonly found parked near the entrance of the Hill Valley Church on West Eclipse Boulevard, Pacific Bluffs.
- Sometimes seen parked on the street in Vespucci Beach.
- Sometimes found parked in the coach stands at the Vinewood Bowl.
- Regularly seen pulling into the parking lot of the RON service station on Route 68 just east of its junction with Route 1. Tends to spawn if the station is approached from the east.

The Dashound's off-side mirror glitch.
- If the player steals an occupied Dashound, then leaving it far away from the driver, exiting and walk away, another driver will respawn on the vehicle and drive like nothing happened. Also, there is a glitch where the vehicle's wheels will move themselves from side to side, even with no driver. This also applies to the Bus and the Airport Bus.
- On the Enhanced version and onwards, the off-side mirror remains static when the front door is opened. This is due to the mirror being part of the bodyshell object rather than the door itself. The glitch will not occur in the original version, however.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
In the game files for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, there is an unused "dach.txd" [2] texture container for a Dashound company bus. It contains truck wheels from Grand Theft Auto III, different lights and a "California" placeholder number plate.
As both the unused "dach" textures and the final version's Bus use the prefix "dash" for their texture images, it confirms that these are simply scrapped early textures for the regular Bus rather than a separate vehicle.
Grand Theft Auto IV
A coach bus nearly identical to the Grand Theft Auto V and Online rendition of the Dashound was cut from Grand Theft Auto IV before release. The bus is seen in a television commercial of Higgins Helitours on CNT, but it is not available to ride or drive in the game. Both its model and handling files are absent.

Trivia
General
- The Dashound's name may be one of several puns; one is "das Hund" which is faux-German for "The Dog" (the article 'das' is neutrum, while the masculine 'Hund' would require the article 'der'), which people have referred to riding Greyhound as "Riding The Dog". The other is the common mispronouncing of "Dachshund" as "Dash-hound".
- On Rockstar Games Social Club, the vehicle is spelled "Dashhound".
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
- Like transit buses, most Dashounds found driving around (not parked) will have a small number of passengers besides the driver. The driver will exit the bus if he parks it, but as with the transit buses, passengers will neither embark nor disembark, even if the bus is stolen, nor will they interfere with the player (unlike the driver, who will often fight back).
